Colorado Mesa University alumni, supporters, students and employees now have a new way to show their Maverick pride. The new CMU license plates are now available to Colorado motorists through their local clerk and recorder’s office.

The new plate replaces the previously issued Mesa State College license plates and sports the current Maverick head logo.

There is a one-time $50 fee to motorists ordering the specialty plate. The Mesa County Clerk and Recorder’s office encourages those wishing to order the plates to do so when their current plate expires. The plates are not kept in stock so the new plate is mailed to those who order it. The clerk’s office issues a 60-day temporary permit when a new plate is ordered. Delivery time for the plate is estimated at one to three weeks.

If you just can’t wait for a CMU plate, it is possible to order the plates and have most license fees prorated, though there are some lesser fees that can’t be refunded or prorated.
